Theater Bites
is a collection of thoughts and musings on the subjects of theater, art and faith. Hopefully they will cause discussion and thought, so enjoy Thank you for using ChristianActors.org!
Take a moment and read these verses from Exodus 35:
30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts- 32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic craftsmanship. 34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. 35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers, all of them master craftsmen and designers.
As you can see, artistic abilities are a gift from God and given to specific people. Isn't that wonderful! It shouldn't be a surprise though. It should be no surprise that the most creative being in the universe would bless his creation with a measure of that as well!
I know as Christian actors we tend to face attitudes that trivialize, dismiss or outright oppose the theater arts as a legitimate outlet of gifts.
Don't ever let anyone tell you that! If someone does, don't believe it. We can see right here, in the Bible, that God chose and gifted people with "skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts to make artistic designs" ...
You have been gifted with artistic skill go and make the most of it for His glory! :)
